The first ever Caribbean Film Marketplace.

CaribbeanTales and the Shridath Ramphal Center, in association with the Commonwealth Foundation, Unido and Carib Export present the first ever Caribbean Film Marketplace on FEBRUARY 25th, 2010 at the Savannah Hotel.

Dr. Keith Nurse, Director of the Shridath Ramphal Center, UWI, that will co-host the Marketplace said: “The Marketplace concept allows us to move beyond “just talk” and get down to the business of creating economic and business opportunities for creative producers as well as for buyers.”

At 11.30am on February 25th, a special Networking Event hosted by the Commonwealth Foundation, will kick off the event, and bring together regional producers and buyers, with producers and buyers from Commonwealth countries including Jamaica, Trinidad, South Africa, Singapore, and India.

Modeled on the Rotterdam Cinemart, selected independent producers will  then have an opportunity to pitch their projects to buyers and an audience, and have one on one meetings with regional and international film and TV buyers and stakeholders, including broadcasters, government representatives, cinema owners, representatives of the educational sector, international donors, music industry entrepreneurs, screenwriters and book publishers.

The one-day Marketplace  will be an intensive opportunity for buyers and producers to get to know each other, find common ground around new and existing projects, and forge deals.
Producers are invited to submit proposals for the Marketplace, that should include the following:

  • A one-page description of your project
  • A full script, scene samples or treatment
  • A letter outlining why you want to participate in the Marketplace, and what you hope to get out of it.
  • CVs and bios of the Team.Budget topsheet, Schedule, and Financing Plan.

Producers can be from anywhere in the Caribbean and its Diaspora, however the content should be Caribbean-centered. Projects can cover any genre, format, or media.
