Powys Dewhurst

Powys Dewhurst was born in the Caribbean and came to Canada as a teenager. He has a great interest in social issues, fantasy, science fiction and satire. He went to film school, worked as a DOP and camera assistant.
In 2007 he was the Pitch This Award Winner for Worldwide Short Film Festival for, WHERE DO WHITE PEOPLE GO WHEN THE LONG WEEKEND COMES?- The Wondrous Journey of Delroy Kincaid. He was selected for The Toronto Urban Film Festival for the short whispers The Secret to Toronto which he co-directed, also the One Minute Film and Video Festival for Coming Out of Context. which he directed and He was commissioned by WIRED as a photojournalist and his work ran in The LA Times, and other publications. He was selected for photojournalism exhibitions. He was awarded the Best in Country Photo journalism award by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.
