In September 1942, a group of West Indian women arrived here to join the ATS, a branch of the army. The decision to recruit them followed 2 years of internal wrangling at the war office. In all, over 300 women served in Britain, Washington and the Caribbean before the war ended. This documentary documents for the first time the contribution of these women to WW2.
